🔥 Fire Safety – Items Not Permitted in Your Room
For the safety of all tenants, the following items are strictly prohibited in your room or elsewhere in the property at any time:
1. Fridges, Freezers & Kitchen Appliances
-
Kitchen appliances, including fridges and freezers, must not be used or stored in your room.
-
HMO licensing standards do not permit these items in bedrooms due to the high fire risk.
-
Please remove any such appliances immediately.
Tip: Check our guide for safe fridge and freezer use in communal areas.
2. Electric / Gas / Portable Heaters
-
Electric fires or other portable heating devices are not allowed in the property.
-
This is a fire safety requirement and is included in your tenancy agreement.
-
Using portable heating can also increase electricity bills, and all tenants may be held responsible for any excess charges.
See more details in the Bills Inclusive – Fair Usage Policy.
3. Extension Leads & Multiple Connections
-
Extension leads and daisy-chained plugs are a serious fire hazard.
-
Do not set up multiple electric connections in your room.
4. Candles & Wax Melts
-
Candles, tealights, and wax melts are strictly banned for fire safety reasons.
5. Scooter, Bike, or Vehicle Charging
-
No charging of scooters, bikes, or other vehicles is permitted in the property.
-
Charging in your room or communal areas is a fire risk. Use local charging points instead.
⚠️ Remember: Fire safety is for your protection and the protection of your housemates. Any violation of these rules may result in fines, insurance issues, or tenancy consequences.
